Mathematics

Lillian McPherson

Lillian McPherson was born and raised in Southeastern Michigan. After an introduction to mathematical proof in high school, her interest grew and she decided to pursue a B.S. in mathematics from the University of Michigan. During her time there, she gained a deeper love for the subject and participated in an REU in commutative algebra. She is grateful for the amazing faculty that inspired her to pursue mathematics as a career. She was also given the opportunity to help teach as a course assistant, which ignited a desire to teach and to inspire a future generation of mathematicians. Lillian looks forward to expanding her experiences in both teaching and research at UC San Diego and thanks the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation for making this possible.
