Chemistry and Biochemistry

Jorge Jacinto

I am a first year chemistry PhD student in the chemical biology track hoping to do research in neuropharmacology. I was raised in Anaheim, CA in a community of Mexican immigrants, and moved away to Santa Barbara, CA after high school to attend UCSB. During undergrad, I did research aimed at understanding the mechanisms of Alzheimer's disease and graduated in 2019 with a major in biochemistry and a minor in physics. After working as an analytical chemist for a few years, I enrolled in a master's program where I continued investigating the mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases. My goal is now to obtain a career in biotech after obtaining my PhD.
