Profile
Ph.D. in Nanoengineering
I am a 5th-year PhD student in the Department of Nanoengineering with a research focus in medical imaging and biosensors. I am developing both in vitro and in vivo methods of optical and acoustic imaging as platforms for disease detection. These have included multispectral nanoparticle tracking analysis for measuring the time-resolved size distribution of aggregating proteins (amyloid), a dual-modal photoacoustic/fluorescent molecular probe for protease sensing, oral applications of ultrasound imaging, and recent investigations into the feasibility of protease-based COVID-19 diagnostics. My long-term goal is to lead a research team as a principal scientist/engineer on new biotechnologies in the private sector. I am deeply grateful to the ARCS Foundation for their generous support over the past few years. The fellowship affirmed my dedication to biomedical research and has pushed me to maximize my time in graduate school.
