Joy Werner

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Intern for the School of Global Policy and Strategy

I'm originally from Chula Vista. I completed my undergraduate education at UC Santa Barbara with a degree in political science, focusing on American government and politics. After graduating, I worked within UCSB’s Housing, Dining, and Auxiliary Enterprises developing housing policies and initiatives. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I started volunteering with Planned Parenthood, which sparked my interest in womens' healthcare accessibility and health policy. This experience inspired me to pursue a Master of Public Policy at UCSD's School of Global Policy and Strategy.
During my free time, I enjoy traveling, hiking, cooking/baking, coffee, and exploring San Diego!
