Taylor McKie

Taylor McKie is a Ph.D. Candidate in Oceanography at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at University of California, San Diego. Her concentration is in physical oceanography and her research focuses on oceanic boundary layer dynamics, specifically in salinity-stratified regions and how small-scale physical processes impact air-sea interactions and climate. Taylor is a recipient of the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship (NSFGRFP) and the GEM Consortium Graduate Fellowship. She received a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Taylor has a strong interest in addressing climate change impacts and environmental injustice at the community level through climate adaptation and resilience and currently serves as a Community Science Fellow through American Geophysical Union’s Thriving Earth Exchange. She has also demonstrated a commitment to advocacy for climate action and diversity and inclusion at the university level through her service in various institutional committees and student organizations. Post-graduation, Taylor aspires to make a positive impact on communities disproportionately affected by climate change through science policy and advocacy.
