Giulia Hoffmann

Director of Professional Development and Fellowships

The Director of Professional Development and Fellowships provides leadership and vision to support the professional development and general career preparation of all UC San Diego graduate and professional students, as well as high-level management and coordination of the portfolio of competitive fellowships awarded on an annual basis.
Giulia has worked in higher education in roles supporting graduate students and postdoctoral scholars for more than a decade. She joined GEPA in 2022, implementing and managing the new Merkin Fellowship Program and Eric & Wendy Schmidt AI in Science Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. Before joining GEPA, she served as Senior Associate Director at the Career Center, where she led the Pre-Graduate and Graduate Career Development team and served as the primary career specialist for all PhD students across campus. She received her B.A. in History from UC San Diego and Ph.D. in English from UC Riverside.
Giulia has traveled to 20 countries and lived in England for 3 years; London is her favorite city.
