1) Am I required to attend New Graduate Student Orientation activities?

You are not required to participate in the GEPA's orientation activities, but it is highly recommended. Please follow up directly with the Graduate Coordinator in your department or program to find out about any requirements for your specific degree program.

2) Where will orientation activities take place?

Fall 2023 orientation activities organized by GEPA will take place both virtually and in-person. Be sure to access the online modules available this summer through the Online New Graduate Student Orientation. Additional events will take place in September, and more details will be posted as they are finalized.

3) Should I attend the orientation activities if I also attended UC San Diego as an undergraduate?

Although you may be familiar with many resources and spaces on campus, we recommend participating in GEPA orientation activities to learn about resources specifically tailored to the graduate student population.

4) Will orientation tell me how to register for classes?

No, please work with your department/program’s Graduate Coordinator to discuss course registration. Registration for classes typically takes place on TritonLink.
