Although I have always gravitated towards the sciences, Oberlin College piqued my interest in the interplay of science, art, and teaching. After graduating with a BA in Chemistry, I was awarded the Nexial Prize. This funding allowed me to study the photodegradation of artwork at Centre de Recherche et de Restauration des Musées de France, the art research and restoration lab in the basement of the Louvre Museum in Paris. In addition to studying photodegradation mechanisms I was also able to find examples of fundamental chemistry in art and hope to use these examples to make science more approachable. At UC San Diego, I am excited to be a teaching assistant for introductory chemistry and a researcher in the lab of Dr Vicki Grassian. I am currently pursuing research on the chemistry of wildfire smoke. When I'm not in the lab I enjoy running, hiking and exploring local dog parks with my dog.
