Fee Payment Information for Academic Student Employees
Fee Payment Information for Associates and Teaching Assistants
Graduate students who are appointed as Teaching Assistants or Associates-In (sub 0, fixed salary), at a minimum of 25% for the entire quarter, are eligible for payment of graduate student health insurance (GSHIP) and partial fee remission that covers Tuition (formerly the Education fee), the Student Services fee (formerly the Registration fee) and effective Winter 2019, $100 towards campus fees. Nonresident Supplemental Tuition (formerly Nonresident Tuition) is not covered.
Students enrolled in self-supporting graduate degree programs are eligible to receive a partial fee remission equivalent in dollar amount to what an eligible ASE enrolled in a UC state supported program would receive for tuition and student services fee, as a result of the qualifying appointment.
Fee payments are issued to those students whose fees are not paid by another fund source (example: outside agency, federal government, Cal Vet, etc.).
Graduate Division TA Fee Deferment Program
This program is for fees only, not Nonresident Supplemental Tuition. The TA Fee Deferment Program allows Teaching Assistants and Associates-In (sub 0, fixed salary) who are appointed at a minimum of 25% for the entire quarter to pay the balance of their fees (excluding Nonresident Supplemental Tuition) through payroll deduction. Complete program details and application here.
Graduate Division TA Loan Program
TA Loans are available in Fall Quarter only. The TA Loan Program provides Teaching Assistants and Associates-In (sub 0, fixed salary) with a loan for living expenses until receipt of their first paycheck on November 1st. The maximum loan cannot exceed one month’s salary minus the amount of any TA Fee Deferment requested. There is no interest charge. Complete program details and application here.
Fee Payment Information for Readers and Tutors
Graduate students appointed as Readers or Tutors at a minimum of 25% for the entire quarter are eligible to receive partial fee remission that covers graduate student health insurance (GSHIP), Tuition (formerly the Education fee), the Student Services fee (formerly the Registration fee) and effective winter 2019, $100 towards campus fees. Nonresident Supplemental Tuition (formerly Nonresident Tuition) is not covered.
Effective fall quarter 2011, GSHIP, Tuition and Student Services fee payments are issued at the beginning of the quarter based upon the assumption that the student will work the minimum hours required for fee remission (110 hours). Fee remission will not be paid at the start of the quarter if a student has a registration or financial “hold” placed on the account because the student is in arrears from a previous quarter.
NOTE: If the student does not work the required number of hours by the end of the quarter, the fee payments will be rescinded and the amount must be repaid by the student.
The fee payments are issued to those students whose fees are not paid by another fund source (example: outside agency, federal government, Cal Vet, etc.)
