Meet Monica Stratakos
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I was born and raised in Saratoga, CA (a suburb of San Jose). I earned my undergraduate degree from UCSD with a major in Business Economics and minors in Finance, Accounting, and Technology, Innovation, and Supply Chain (TISC). Last summer, I was a finance intern at Lattice Semiconductor in San Jose. This summer, I was a tax intern at Ernst & Young in San Jose and will be returning as a tax staff after MPAc graduation. I chose to continue my education at UCSD in the Rady Scool of Management to further develop my accounting knowledge and skills prior to entering the workforce and to earn credits towards my CPA license.
Tell us about your professional experience and campus involvement at UC San Diego
As an undergraduate, I was a four-year member of the UCSD Women’s Tennis Team. I participated in beach cleanups and volunteered at Habitat for Humanity. I am a member of United Accounting Society and will be a Teaching Assistant this Winter and Spring. I live on campus in Graduate and Family Housing. When not on the tennis court, I might be rock climbing at Canyonview or studying in Geisel or the Gliderport Lounge. I love going to the beach or getting boba with my friends!
Why UC San Diego?
I originally chose UC San Diego for my undergraduate education because of its strong academic reputation. Like everyone else, I fell in love with San Diego and La Jolla. I was fortunate to be a junior nominee to UCSD’s MPAc program and was attracted to it because of its AI and STEM focus. All of the above made it an easy choice to enroll here again.
Have you been awarded any fellowships or grants during graduate school? If so, which ones?
Rady Incoming Scholarship and UC Scholarship.
