Eric M Jordahl is a candidate for a Ph.D. in Biology at the University of California San Diego. His research focuses on the characterization of the rhomboid protease RHBDL4 in Pancreatic Cancer. Eric has been recognized as a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Program (NSF GRFP) Fellow and Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Gilliam Fellow for his graduate education. He received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Classics from the University of Pittsburgh where he received a Colella Award Fellowship and a Horowitz Award Fellowship. Eric has a love for mentorship, sharing his experiences in science with the next generation of scientists. He is the Mentorship Chair of the Biology Undergraduate and Master’s Mentorship Program (BUMMP), which provides mentorship to undergraduate and master’s students in Biology at the University of California San Diego. Eric has paired over 1700 mentorship pairings through BUMMP over his 4 years as Mentorship Chair, overseeing over 400 pairings per year. Eric aspires to start his own research program at an R1 research institution, pushing the boundaries of cell and cancer biology while supporting and mentoring students of all backgrounds.
