About OAR²
WHAT IS OAR²?
The office of Outreach, Access, Recruitment, and Retention (written as OAR² or OAR^2, and pronounced as “O-A-R squared”) is housed within the Division of Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs.
OAR² is committed to building a graduate and professional student body that enriches our campus community through wide-ranging perspectives and experiences.
We do this through:
OUTREACH
We see outreach as the process of building relationship with others in order to collaborate and advise.
ACCESS
We see access as an all-encompassing characteristic of everything we do. Our office aims to bring opportunities, services, information and benefit to the students we serve.
RECRUITMENT
We see recruitment as the process of actively supporting students in their journey to become members of the UC San Diego graduate community.
RETENTION
We see retention as the process of actively supporting students during their journey as members of the UC San Diego graduate community.
Our central goal is create collaborative spaces for meaningful interactions between students, faculty, staff, and community partners, empowering all students to actively contribute to an inclusive environment that aligns with the UC San Diego Principles of Community.
OAR² programs and activities are open to all eligible students. OAR² programs and activities do not consider race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, and/or other protected categories as part of the application and selection process.
OAR² Staff
Our student-centered team leads programming designed to provide support systems for our UC San Diego graduate students and make graduate education accessible for prospective students.
OAR² Involvement & Partnerships
Our Office engages with various national and local agencies, organizations, and non-profits in an array of projects and initiatives.
