Meet James Crawford

Tell us a bit about your background: I am a doctoral student and researcher in the Department of Education Studies at UC San Diego. I anticipate graduating in 2022. I earned a master’s in education in the Social and Cultural Analysis of Education Program at California State University, Long Beach, and a bachelor’s in philosophy with a minor in psychology at California State University, Dominguez Hills.

What are you studying/researching? My research colleagues and I are currently evaluating a multi-year pilot of an Ethnic Studies course in collaboration with the San Diego Unified School District. I am the Co-Chair of the Graduate Student Association (GSA) Diversity Advisory Council, as well as a principal member of the Black Graduate and Professional Student Association. I received the San Diego Fellowship and I am committed to supporting the equity and diversity initiatives at UC San Diego and in surrounding communities.
