Interested in pursuing a Ph.D or a Masters, but not sure where to start ?

UC San Diego has created this event is for all prospective students interested in pursuing a graduate degree. Come and develop a plan that will lead you to successfully apply for a masters or doctoral program. Learn and gain insights into what constitutes a strong candidate for graduate school.

Not Sure About if Grad School is for You? A central goal of this open house is to help demystify the graduate school application process. Presenters will share key insights into what makes a strong graduate school application profile.

Ready to Apply? Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with UC San Diego master’s and doctoral program representatives. 

Ready to Connect? Get a glimpse of the funding opportunities available for graduate students. Learn about graduate student life on campus from current graduate students. If you’re not too familiar with UC San Diego, this is a great opportunity to connect with our campus community and find out how we support graduate students on campus. 
The workshops and sessions in this event have been designed for:
- Students who are early in the graduate school exploration process 
- Prospective students who have decided to pursue a graduate degree and are considering UC San Diego
- Prospective students who want to make connections with UC San Diego students, staff, and faculty

Workshop Description


 Welcome Session

Learn about how we support graduate students and the important aspects of graduate education in our campus. Graduate Division Associate Deans will provide remarks on the importance of a graduate degree.



 Graduate School Pathways

This session will explore the different options for pursuing graduate education. We'll talk about undergrad to graduate pathway, gap years, postbaccalaurate opportunities, and less traditional pathways into grad school.


11am-12 p.m.

 Supporting Graduate Students at UC San Diego

 Come and learn about the types of support available to graduate students on campus. There will be speakers from the Writing Hub, Student Health and Well-being, and the Campus Community Centers sharing essential information about how graduate students use their services.


12-1 p.m.

 Graduate School Funding

Attendees will have an opportunity to learn about funding opportunities for master's or doctoral degrees. Speakers will discuss various options that include internal funds and outside funding. (e.g., Fellowships, grants, scholarships)


1-2 p.m.

 International Student Support

 Come and learn about the resources available through the International Students and Programs office (ISPO) for international graduate students.


2-3 p.m.

 The Graduate School Application

 Join our Graduate Division team in this session that will review important information about the graduate admissions process at UC San Diego.



 Graduate Student Life Panel

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about different aspects of graduate student life from a panel of current UC San Diego graduate students from various academic disciplines.



 Research Experiences for Undergraduates at UC San Diego

 If you are interested in getting involved in undergraduate summer research opportunities at UC San Diego, this workshop provides an overview of programs on campus.



All workshops will be delivered virtually. You're welcomed to join in to as many sessions as you'll like. 

FRIDAY, APRIL 30 | 10AM - 1 p.m. (PST)

10am-1 p.m. Meet with UC San Diego Graduate Programs Representatives Faculty, staff, and current graduate students will be answering questions in live drop-in Zoom sessions and through chat.




What happens after I register for the event?

Prior to April 29, you will receive a link to create an account with the event platform CampusGroups. On the day of the event you will be able to access the event through the link provided in that email.

Can I attend to only parts of the open house?

The event is design so you can attend any workshops and sessions of your choice. We recommend you create a plan. 

I'm interested in speaking with recruiters about the potential to apply to one of UC San Diego's graduate programs. 

Friday's session is designed for you to speak with representatives from various masters and doctoral programs. They will host live drop-in sessions to answer your questions.
